Increased Oil Volume:
Increasing oil capacity not only improves the thermal mass for better cooling but also helps mitigate diesel fuel dilution. By increasing your oil volume from 6.6 liters to over 8.2 liters, any diesel fuel that enters the oil is diluted in a larger reservoir, resulting in a lower overall percentage of contamination. This helps preserve the oil’s viscosity and additive effectiveness. Diesel fuel dilution can begin to significantly affect oil performance—compromising viscosity and additive effectiveness—when it reaches approximately 3-5%.
Billet Aluminium Pan vs. Stamped Steel Factory Pan:
We have added an extra 1.6L of oil capacity and transitioned to a billet aluminium pan with cooling fins. This design dramatically improves heat transfer compared to the stamped steel factory pan. The billet aluminium construction, with its enhanced thermal mass and increased surface area from integrated cooling fins, promotes superior heat dissipation. This not only helps maintain lower oil temperatures under heavy loads but also stabilizes engine temperatures, ultimately extending engine life and performance.
Optimal Pickup Height: Maintaining the optimal oil pump pickup height is essential.
Too High (Far): If the pickup is too high, a low-pressure zone forms around it, leading to vortex creation. This vortex draws air into the oil, causing aeration and cavitation that rapidly degrade the protective oil film, causing catastrophic bearing failure.
Too Low (Close): Conversely, placing the pickup too close to the bottom can result in oil starvation and increase the likelihood of debris ingestion.
